I am amazed, continuously amazed, at the low-cost options that film makers have these days. The other day I was at an amusement park with my kids and someone had the Sony Nex-5 camera taking footage of his kids. I never thought I would see the day where I could have this option in such a small package. That camera is small! Yet it has full HD and interchangeable lens capability. It’s not big and bulky like a camcorder or even a larger DSLR. A great price-point too for an extra camera for just carrying around to get beautiful shots of every day things.
This is a video shot on the Sony Nex-5 camera. Very nice work Daniel!
Some very successful Independent Contractors have even been known to use less expensive equipment to test and shoot on. This is a short documentary shot by Phillip Bloom on the Sony Nex5n:

The A77 doesn’t have a larger sonser. They are both APS-C sized. Sony has 2 full frame DSLRs but they don’t have video. You would need an E-mount to A-mount converter to use your Alpha lenses with the VG-20. There is talk that the a77 doesn’t have full HD output via HDMI, but its to soon to be sure yet. If you check eoshd that information should come to light soon. The likely differences might be with the HDMI out and audio inputs.
